“Sorry, I thought you were out,” she mumbled, finally backing away. The door clicked shut again, but the heat of the water was gone. The eucalyptus now smelled like clinical soap, and the hum of the fan was just noise.
Let me pause here to say: I love my mother. She is a wonderful, caring, generous woman. She also has the situational awareness of a golden retriever chasing a squirrel. In her mind, the fact that I was in the bath was a minor inconvenience to her hairspray retrieval mission. The fact that I was naked and panicking was, apparently, irrelevant.
Apparently, the entire incident was, in her eyes, my fault for practicing "aggressive self-care" with noise-canceling earbuds. It made me realize that while we are panicking about our exposed ankles, our moms are usually just annoyed that we left the wet towel on the floor again. my mother suddenly came into the bath and i pan exclusive
And that’s when the panic set in.
Or so I thought.
In the days that followed, I couldn't shake off the feeling of embarrassment and guilt. I felt like I had been invaded, like my private space had been disrespected. I began to wonder if I had been too harsh on my mother, if maybe she had a genuine reason for entering the bathroom without knocking.

So we made a new rule:
Growing up, parents and children often find themselves navigating a delicate dance of boundaries and personal space. As kids, we rely on our parents for love, support, and guidance, but as we mature, we begin to crave independence and autonomy. It's a natural progression, but one that can be challenging for both parties. Let me pause here to say: I love my mother
